Minutes of the Annual General Body Meeting

1. The meeting was called to order by the President Dr. Devinder Sehgal.

2. Approval of the minutes of the last Annual General Meeting, held on November 12, 2000 moved by Dr. Angl seconded by Dr. Dev to approve the minutes as circulated previously.  Motion carried.

3. Report from the Secretary of the year 2001- Dr. Kuldip Minhas. Dr. K. Minhas presented the general overview of the activities held during the year 2001.  These included - The NIMDAC Picnic, Golf Day, participation in Heart and Stroke Foundations “Ride for the Heart”, donation of $1000.00 and fund raising of over $10, 000.00 for the India Earth Quake Relief Fund through the Canadian Red Cross.

4. Annual Financial for year 2000 - Dr. Jain. Moved by Dr. Saeed seconded by Dr. Sidhu that the financial reports for the year 2000 be accepted as presented.  Motion carried.

5. Old Business

   1. Community Work: NIMDAC will prepare an educational pamphlet in regional South Asian languages to help promote better understanding of common health related matters.  Dr. Umesh Jain, Mohinder Angl, Ranjit Rana and  Ravi Kumar volunteered to participate in various disease awareness for the community.

   2. Youth Group: A spousal committee was appointed which will explore ways to promote and help organize youth activities. Mrs. Harjit Cheema, Mrs. Seema Chopra, Mrs. Punam Gaur and Mrs. Virinder Rana were selected as volunteer members of the spousal committee.

6. New Buisness

   1. Program for the year 2002: Dr. Chopra presented a brief overview of the future plans for the coming year’s events.  The executive will soon start working at organizing the next year’ events which likely will be CME activities, Boat cruise, Golf Day and the Annual Function.  The executive and individual members will work towards the goal of introducing NIMDAC to new members.

   2. Election of the Secretary-Elect 2002: Moved by Dr. Angl, seconded by Dr. Jairath that Dr. Shiva Gaur be nominated for the position of Secretary-Elect.  Moved by Dr. S. Sidhu, seconded by Dr. A. Cheema that Dr. Ranjit Rana be nominated for the position of the Secretary-Elect.  Dr. Rana graciously withdrew his nomination.  Dr. Gaur was unanimously elected.

   3. Vote of thanks: Dr. D. Sehgal expressed his thanks to the NIMDAC members, the executive committee and the sponsors.  He congratulated Dr. Minhas for doing a great job for the year 2001, welcomed Dr. Gaur as the new Secretary-Elect and expressed his confidence that the association will do well in the coming years.

7. Adjournment: There being no further business the meeting was adjourned on a motion from Dr, Jairath seconded by Dr. Angl.
