HAPPY NEW YEAR

Dear Friends,

The year has gone by very quickly. Thank you all for making this a very successful year for NIMDAC. The Annual Function and CME attracted 53 delegates, along with 202 family members and guests. A few highlights from the weekend included: a superb fashion show presented by Elegant Adaayein, an excellent children’s variety show, a competitive tennis tournament (see picture below), as well as an intriguing 6 hour accredited educational program. We wish to convey our sincere thanks to all our sponsors for supporting us throughout the year.

The plans for the year 2003 are already under way and details will follow in the upcoming NIMDAC Newsletters.

Dr. Chopra gave an overview of this year’s activities.

1. Toronto harbor CME boat cruise in June 2002

2. Youth group meeting and Bowling day in July.

3. Annual Golf day at Bushwood golf club in August 2002 Dr. Chopra thanked everybody for participation in these activities

5.  Old Business:   

5.1 Youth Group: The participation of youth group in NIMDAC was discussed. The organizers were commended for excellent youth and children programCommunity work:

5.2 NIMDAC role in community work was discussed. Dr. Rana had suggestions regarding South Asian Family Support Services. Dr. R. Kashyap talked about South Asian Heart Health Group. Dr. Vijay Sharma proposed to recognise social or educational achievements of our youth

6.1  Appointment of Directors. Dr. Chopra suggested that the previous directors of NIMDAC might be replaced with five members of the executive council of NIMDAC. This will comply with the Government regulations and NIMDAC will have one new director every year. The motion to change directors was proposed by Dr. Rakesh Uppal and seconded by Dr. Ranjit Rana and it was accepted unanimously after discussion

6.2  Secretary Elect Dr. Shiva Gaur gave an overview of next year program. He asked the members about their ideas regarding year 2003 activities, as it will be 10^th anniversary of the NIMDAC. He mentioned about Picnic or CME cruise in June, golf day in August and Annual function in October

6.3  Election for 2003 General Secretary Elect: The name of Dr. Bharat Chawla was proposed by Dr. Nikki Powar and seconded by Dr. Gargi Bhatia. The name of Dr. Asha Seth was proposed by Dr. Wazir Rajan and seconded by Dr. Ram Singal. Dr. Asha Seth withdrew her name. Dr. Bharat Chawla was elected unanimously

6.4  Vote of Thanks:  Dr. Umesh Jain expressed his sincere thanks to NIMDAC members, executive committee, and the sponsors. He congratulated Dr. Jagdish and Seema Chopra for doing great job and making this event an unqualifying success. He also welcomed Dr. Bharat Chawla as new Secretary Elect and wished him well
